Serge Létourneau attended college at Petit Séminaire de Québec and obtained his diploma in 1974. In 1977, he completed his law degree at Laval University and became a member of the Quebec Bar in 1978.
For more than 25 years, Mr. Létourneau has devoted the essence of his practice to litigation. He has had the occasion to plead before several jurisdictions such as: the Court of Quebec, the Superior Court of Quebec, the Court of Appeal of Quebec and the Supreme Court of Canada, where he acquired his expertise of the legal system and its functions.
The fields in which Mr. Létourneau has practiced throughout the years are mainly civil law, bankruptcy law, corporative law, commercial law, administrative law and insurance law. Since the 90’s, he mostly concentrates his practice on the professional liability of financial advisors and investment dealers.
Mr. Létourneau practiced law for several years as an employed-lawyer before becoming a partner of one of the most important law firm’s in Quebec. In the year 2000, he founded the firm Létourneau Gagné, s.e.n.c.r.l., in order to offer investors who are victims of their financial advisors’ incompetence and embezzlement, the adequate means to obtain compensation for their losses.
Throughout his career, Mr. Létourneau has been a member of several organizations linked to his profession such as the Quebec City Bar Committee, the Committee for Access to the Profession, the Discipline Committee of the Quebec Bar and the Federal Judicial Appointments Committee.
Mr. Létourneau is married and the proud father of 3 children.
